The time we scooped second prize in the Taco Kuiper award

The Taco Kuiper awards is largely seen as South Africa’s Pulitzer and a prestigious investigative journalism award that every journalist worth their salt wants to have under their belt. The award is annual and seeks to celebrate and award fierce and ground breaking investigative journalism. Sunday Times editors decided to nominate me and my colleagues Thandoxolo Jika and Sabelo Skiti for our body of work on State Capture for the Taco Kuiper. All through 2016 the Sunday Times led the investigations and coverage of State Capture, for which we previously won an award. This time we were up against the crème de la crème of investigative reporters- many of whom have experience longer than my age. We were delighted that the judging panel selected as the runner ups for the 2016 Taco Kuiper prize and hopefully we can scoop the main prize in the near future!
